Champaign establishments are offering carryout and delivery of cocktail beverages this summer
On June 3, Champaign Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen issued Emergency Order 20-19 which allows for the carryout and delivery of pre-mixed alcoholic beverages during the COVID-19 emergency.* So we asked around Champaign in order to find the best kept cocktail secrets in town.
Following the example of our previous Food Trail posts, we avoid listing chains with 10+ locations; chambanamoms.com does not endorse the businesses listed here.
(*This change is in accordance with recent amendments to the Illinois Liquor Code. State law now permits the transportation of pre-mixed alcoholic beverages provided they are contained in a glass, metal, or ceramic container, sealed with a secure cap or lid that is tamper-proof or tamper-evident, properly labeled, and in accordance with all other local and state laws. Alcoholic beverages must also be transported in the vehicle’s trunk, or in another vehicle compartment not readily accessible to the passenger area. A full copy of Emergency Order 20-9 can be reviewed on the city’s website.)
Art Mart (1705 S. Prospect Ave., Champaign): Features grown up Aperol spritz and Frose slushees to go. Make sure to visit during their daily happy hour for $5 drinks from 4-6 p.m. Check out their Facebook page for daily food and drink specials.
El Toro (multiple locations): Features their signature margaritas to go, so that any day can be Taco Tuesday.
Esquire Lounge (106 N. Walnut St., Champaign): Offers pineapple margaritas packaged in 32-ounce growlers. Once you get it home, fill a pint glass with ice, and that should allow you five margaritas per growler.
Nando Milano (204 N. Neil St., Champaign): The Nando martini is a crowd pleaser for many, featuring Grey Goose vodka and a house-made limoncello.
Seven Saints (32 E. Chester St, Champaign): Lots of love to the Lilly Pear, a vodka cocktail with elderflower and spiced pear liqueur with fresh lemon and thyme.
Watson’s Shack and Rail (211 N. Neil St., Champaign): Make sure to check out their Gorky Park slushie or better yet, try the trio of slushies because how can you pick just one?
Know of another “cocktail to go” that is worth an honorable mention? Email us and tell us why we should include it in our list.
