Where to go swimming in the Champaign-Urbana area

 

We have a list of swimming pools, both outdoor and indoor, where you can splash your way through the season, no matter the weather

Fun abounds at area outdoor pools from Memorial Day to Labor Day, although beware that hours are subject to change once school starts in August. We have information about pools across East Central Illinois including Champaign, Urbana, Rantoul, Monticello, Tuscola and Farmer City.

We are also including a list of all of the indoor public pools you can enjoy, no matter what the season or weather. Jump to indoor pools now.

Swimming Pools Around Champaign-Urbana

Thanks to the Urbana Park District for presenting this post. 

Urbana Park District wants you to know that you can buy 2025 memberships and passes to Crystal Lake Park Family Aquatic Center.

Buy a season-long membership or purchase a five or 10-admission punch pass. Buy the memberships and passes in person at Phillips Recreation Center. Passes are valid for the 2025 season only.

Outdoor Swimming Pools

Crystal Lake Family Aquatic Center

Location: 1401 N. Broadway, Urbana
Season: Open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day
Highlights: Favorite features are the aquatic climbing wall (one of just a handful in the U.S.!) and the “wet deck” for us parents surrounding the treehouse.
Waterslides: 48 inches and up.

Daily Pass Price: Individuals, $9 resident/$13 non-resident, after 4 p.m. $6/$9; kids 3 and under free. Discounted punch cards are available.

Crystal Lake Family Aquatic Center

Sholem Aquatic Center

Location: 2205 W. Sangamon Dr., Champaign
Season: Open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day
Highlights: Don’t forget the Tiny Tots program for the toddler crew. Champaign Park District has $7 Fridays where visitors can swim for $7 all day every Friday. Children 3 and under are free.
Waterslides: 42 inches and up.
Season Pass Info: Again this year, pool passes are sold at a flat rate, whether you a resident of Champaign-Urbana or not. Click here for full details regarding season passes. On sale now via the Champaign Park District website. 
Daily Pass Price: Individuals, $10, after 4 p.m. $7; kids 3 and under free.

Waterslides at Sholem Aquatic Center

Monticello Family Aquatic Center

Location:Burke Park at 601 W. Railroad St., Monticello
Season: Open May 26 to Aug. 14
Highlights: The zero depth splash area is a favorite here! There’s also a high dive. Otherwise, a good all-around pool with a slide.
Waterslides: One large flume slide; height requirement unknown.
Season Pass Info: Season pass prices run $75 for an individual resident ($90 non-resident) to $200 for a resident family of four ($240 non-resident)
Daily Pass Price:
$6; 2 and under are free
Notes: If a storm occurs late afternoon, the facility may remain closed for the evening. Call ahead to check if you are coming from out of town .(217) 762-2415.

Monticello Family Aquatic Center

Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center (Rantoul)

Location: 333 S. Tanner St., Rantoul
Season: Expected to open May 24.
Highlights: Big kids love the separate diving well. The rest of the pool, from zero depth to waterslides, is all connected.
Waterslides: 48 inches and up.

Daily Pass Price: $8; under 2 years free with paying adult; Family Night Swim on Wednesdays 7-9 p.m., family day swim on selected Sundays from 4-6 p.m., up to two kids get in free with paying adult

Hap Parker Rantoul pool

Farmer City Swimming Pool

Location: 605 N. John St., Farmer City
Season:
Opening/closing dates not specified
Highlights: Kids of any age/height can go down the slide (which ends in deep water, FYI). You can rent the whole pool for a reasonable price per hour in the evenings.
Waterslide: No height restriction, but does end in deep water. 
Daily Pass Prices:
$7 resident/$10 non-resident (additional fee if paying by credit card); children 2 and under are free

Farmer City Swimming Pool

Tuscola Swimming Pool 

Location: Ervin Park (Northline Road and Main Street), Tuscola
Season: 2025 opening date yet to bo confirmed.
Highlights: Private pool parties may be scheduled in the evenings.
Daily Pass Prices: Last year’s pricing was $5 per person, cash or local check only.

Paxton Pool 

Location: Coady Park at 601 S. Fall St., Paxton
Season: Opening/closing dates not specified
Daily Pass Prices: $5 per person; ages 2 and under free

Indoor Swimming Pools

Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center

Location: 102 E. Michigan, Urbana
Season: This pool operates during the school year. Public swim hours are no longer happening on a weekly basis, but you will find swim lessons, lap swim, water exercise, swim team and some “school’s out!” swim days on the calendar, too.
Highlights: Kids love this pool! The water spray toys and water slides are turned on during school’s out swim days and sometimes for parties.
Waterslides: 48 inches and up.
Pass Info: Membership info now via the Urbana Park District website.
Daily Pass Price: Spectators (not swimming), $3; Individuals, $6; kids 3 and under free. Discounted punch cards are available.

Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center

Stephens Family YMCA

Location: 2501 Fields South Dr., Champaign
Season: Open year-round
Highlights: Unarguably, the most accessible year-round pool option Champaign-Urbana families have to choose from. While each pool features something unique, the Stephens Family YMCA features a truly unique accessible waterslide. Pools and waterslide are accessible via electric chair lifts.
Waterslide: 48 inches tall AND pass a swim test.
Pass Info: Y membership info available on its website. Day passes also available (below).
Daily Pass Price: Youth ages 12 and under, $5; teens/adults, $10 or $25 for a family

YMCA Family Pool

UIUC Campus Rec – CRCE and ARC

Locations: CRCE is located at 1102 W. Gregory in Urbana and ARC is located at 201 E. Peabody in Champaign.
Season: Open year-round
Highlights: For many in our community, CRCE and ARC are a great option for a dip in the pool. The waterslide at CRCE is a hit with kids.
Waterslide: One large waterslide; height requirement unknown.
Pass Info: Many people are eligible for a Campus Rec membership and can then sponsor guest passes for visitors. University affiliates and their spouses can become members, as well as students and their spouses, university retirees, employees of “allied organizations” (list here), and many others. Private pools in Champaign-Urbana:

Indian Acres

Location: 1 Arrow Road, Champaign
Indian Acres is a family-oriented swim club in Champaign’s Lincolnshire neighborhood with four pools — 64,000 square feet of sparkling clear water of varying depths. There are more than 8,000 square feet of deck space with several sunny and shaded areas on deck. The pools are surrounded by approximately three acres of play fields, two playgrounds, and picnic areas. Offering day camp, swim team, swim lessons, swim fitness, and recreational swim.
