Looking for an affordable way to mix up your workout routine? There are a few options in the Champaign-Urbana area that might help you get your body and budget in shape.

The Urbana High School track facility is part of the McKinley Athletic Complex, located south of Urbana High School. The public may use the track on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursday throughout April and May from 6:30-8 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. Exceptions are May 8 and 15 when the track is only available during the morning hours only. Hours for June and July are TBA.
The Fieldhouse, which includes an indoor track, is currently open for walkers and joggers from 5:30-7:30 a.m. when school is in session. (Evening public access hours ended April 1). It will be open during the summer with limited public hours, which will eventually be posted on the website. The Fieldhouse is open to all Mahomet residents or those who have children attending the Mahomet-Seymour School District.
You don’t have to be a University of Illinois student to enjoy this amazing facility. The Armory and Track floor is 62,000 square feet of space. The center of the arch is approximately 95 feet high. The running track is 200 meters long in Lane 1. Pay a daily fee of $3 or buy a year’s membership for $95 (about $8 a month) and have access to it every day it’s open.
Champaign’s Douglass Park boasts a .6 mile fitness trail with several pieces of outdoor exercise equipment. Try out the ab crunch/leg lift, assisted row/push-up, balance steps, cardio stepper, chest/back press, mobility station, plyometrics, pull-up/dip, squat press, stretching station and Tai Chi wheels — all for free!
