Find out what you need to know about Dana Colbert Park in Savoy
Our list of features you can find at Colbert Park is so long we couldn’t possibly write it all out — but we are going to try. Amazing equipment, musical path complete with game stops, small fishing lake, lengthy paved path (for dog walking, strolling or running), pavilions with grills and cornhole, sand volleyball courts, sledding hill (or rolling hill in the warm months) — these are just some of the features we love about this Champaign-Urbana family favorite.
Located near the Savoy Walmart and Willard Airport, Colbert Park really isn’t that far from the heart of C-U. And since you know we will drive for a good playground, this one has a permanent spot on our list of best C-U parks and playgrounds.
A Village of Savoy park, Colbert Park is a 55-acre park with paths, a dock (for fishing the stocked lake), abundant green space and of course, the impressive playground.
Tips for your Trip From Other Parents
- Bring hats and sunblock. There are not a lot of shady trees here. There are pavilions and also a protective roof over the dock area by the lake. But if you are supervising your kids closely on the playground, there is no shade.
- Bring kites if it’s windy. The hills are great places to launch a kite!
- Bring your fishing pole and bait! If you don’t have any poles, you can check them out at the Savoy Recreation Center. At dusk, the fish will go crazy for stale bread.
