Next on the list are the courts at Clark Park, Eisner Park, and Spalding Park, which will open the courts as soon as the nets can be re-installed.
The Park District has instituted rules developed by other parks and rec organizations to encourage safe play and reinforce social distancing measures. These rules will be in effect until further notice.
The courts will be open for play for singles only. All players must have their own equipment including individual balls for serves.
The Champaign Bark District — aka the dog park — will reopen on Tuesday, May 5. It has been closed since April 15, upon the recommendation of the Champaign Urbana Public Health District.
Patrons are asked to maintain social distancing of 6 feet or more and wear a mask, especially when that distance can’t be maintained. And the most significant change: don’t pet other people’s animals.
(The Champaign Bark District dog park is a membership facility, and requires an extra fee to access it. It is located across the street from Porter Park, in far southwest Champaign. More information can be found on the park district website.)
People are also asked to stay home if sick, regardless of where you are going.
Other area attractions that have reopened or plan to reopen soon:
Illinois State Parks, including Clinton Lake, Moraine View, and Kickapoo State Recreation Area.
