The Champaign Center Partnership has announced this year’s Parade of Lights is canceled, along with other important changes to Saturday’s schedule of events
Find out what has been canceled and what will still be taking place this Small Business Saturday in Downtown Champaign
Cancelations are never fun, but due to the winter weather forecast through Central Illinois this weekend, the Champaign Center Partnership has announced this year’s Parade of Lights will be canceled. We know a great deal of time and planning goes into executing large community events such as this, and appreciate the time event organizers have put into making this tough decision.
Fortunately, there will still be lots of festive holiday fun throughout Downtown Champaign on Small Business Saturday, if you’d like to venture out into the snow!

Activities that have been canceled for 2025
- The Parade of Lights will be canceled
- Kids Wonderland and Holly Trolley will also be canceled
- Entertainment scheduled for stages located on the Plaza Stage, Taylor Street and roaming performers will not be happening this year
Organizers state, “we know this is disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritize safety.” They go on to share, “we will STILL be celebrating Small Business Saturday!”

Festive fun that will still be taking place as scheduled on Saturday
- Visits with Santa at Big Grove Tavern from 12-4 p.m.
- Mistletoe Market at the Orpheum from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
- Festive stage photo opportunities
- Small Business Saturday in-store specials, activities and shopping (hot cocoa anyone?)

Update to tree lighting ceremony time
The tree lighting in Downtown Plaza will still be taking place, but is now scheduled for 4 p.m. We are excited this tradition will be taking place this year!
