Story time is a great time to socialize with other caregivers and build a foundational love of reading, particularly for infants, toddlers and preschoolers
Depending on the season, it is estimated that Champaign-Urbana and surrounding communities offer upwards of 20 story times each week
If you have a young child of any age, you have likely walked into one of the wonderful story time events happening around Champaign-Urbana. They happen in local libraries and book stores year-round, with other special events happening seasonally around the holidays or during the summer time — story time on the farm, anyone?
Week in and week out we have an abundance of story times to choose from. Often broken up by age — baby, toddler, preschooler or “all ages” — there are sensory-friendly story times, specific book series-themed story times, and evening story times ideal for families with parents who work during the day.
Parents love having something (free!) on the calendar to visit each week and kids love the engaging programming and chance to play with other kids. You can foster a love of reading early on and find something to fit nearly every family’s schedule.
Two of the most prominent locations featuring recurring story times are the Champaign Public Library and the Urbana Free Library.
