Founded in 1999 by the late Roger Ebert, University of Illinois Journalism graduate and Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic, Roger Ebert’s Film Festival (Ebertfest) celebrates films that haven’t received the recognition they deserved during their original runs. The festival gives these films and their filmmakers a well-deserved second look.

Head out to The Virginia Theatre from April 23-26, 2025 to screen 12 films in the historic movie palace. Full festival passes are $200. Individual film tickets are $20. Student prices are available. All passes and tickets can be purchased at The Virginia Theatre.

Ready, Set, Connect! Free Developmental Screenings

United Way of Champaign County, Birth-5 Illinois, and the Champaign County Home Visiting Consortium are offering free developmental screenings for children from birth to five years old. These screenings assess communication, social, and motor skills to help families track their child’s development. Screenings will be available at multiple locations across Champaign County on the following dates:

• Urbana – Every Tuesday & Friday
• St. Joseph – April 23 (Register here)
• Philo – April 24
• Thomasboro – April 28 (Register here)
