Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so if you’d like to skip cooking in the kitchen, Champaign and Urbana have a whole bunch of great dine-in or carryout options for your family’s Thanksgiving table

We are here to help you try some of the delicious Thanksgiving classics that Champaign-Urbana restaurants and caterers have to offer.

When ordering takeout or a family meal to go for Thanksgiving, our advice is not to wait until the last minute. Thanksgiving takeout seems to be popular!

Grab ‘n’ Go Thanksgiving at the Co-op
Make your holidays easier and stock up on Thanksgiving dishes made from scratch at Common Ground Food Co-op. Common Ground‘s kitchen and bakery are cooking up a full menu of dishes to supplement your holiday meal. Starting Friday, Nov. 19- Wednesday, Nov. 23, the Co-op’s Grab n Go case will be stocked with Thanksgiving entrees, essential sides, sauces, seasonal pies, and bakery treats. The menu highlights local and organic ingredients and has a huge selection of vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian options that are perfect for all of your guests! Check out the full menu of offerings.

Common Ground Co-Op Thanksgiving Side Dishes
Perhaps you want to make your own Thanksgiving feast, or at least the most important part — the turkey! If you are looking for Where to Order Your Thanksgiving Turkey in Champaign-Urbana, get a leg up on your holiday planning with Common Ground’s turkey pre-orders. Maybe you are searching for the perfect side to take to that holiday meal, or just want to get your whole meal prepared, Common Ground can help you with that.

If you’re planning on takeout for Thanksgiving, some options have deadlines for pre-orders or may have limited availability, so order early.

We will continue to add to this list, as not all options have been released as of our publishing date. Please note that information was verified at time of publishing, and might be subject to change due to a restaurant’s staffing or supplies.

Dine-In Options:

Neil St. Blues, 301 N. Neil St., Champaign: Neil St. Blues will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner buffet from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. You will find 6 entrées, 10 sides, and 3 desserts on the menu. Reservations recommended. $25/adult, $15/kid under 10. They offer a take-out option.

Denny’s, 702 W. Town Center Blvd,. Champaign: (open 24 hours) Standard menu available, which includes a turkey-and-dressing meal: carved turkey, stuffing, turkey gravy and cranberry sauce with choice of two sides and dinner bread.

Bob Evans, 1813 N. Neil St., Champaign: Bob Evans dining room will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. serving hot meals. It also has Thanksgiving feasts to go that can feed up to 10. Packed cold, heat and serve at home; available for curbside pickup and delivery.

OneT’s Cornerpocket, 123 S. Mattis Ave., Champaign: Featuring both dine-in and carryout, OneT’s Cornerpocket is offering Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixins at $20 a plate. Preorders will be taken until Nov. 23. Dine-in will be ready at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Call the bar at (217) 359-2177 to place your pre-order.

Perkins, 214 W University Ave, Urbana: Perkins is open on Thanksgiving for dine-in. The standard menu will be available, including pie!

FREE Options:

Arrowhead Lanes, 1401 N McKinley Ave., Champaign: Arrowhead Lanes will be offering a free Thanksgiving dinner to anyone that has no place to go or can’t afford one for their family. They plan to start eating around 5pm, but the building will be open until 10pm – if you can’t be there till later, they’ll warm you up a plate!

Urbana High School, 1002 S. Race St., Urbana: Thanksgiving Grab-and-Go hosted by UHS Student Senate. ALL are welcome to come and pick up some food. Pickup at UHS Commons, Door #1. Thanksgiving Day, 4-6 p.m.

Order Ahead Options:

Lucky Moon Pies and More, 401 E Oak St, Mahomet: Lucky Moon is offering custom orders for the holidays. Options include pie (apple, Dutch apple, cherry, cranberry cream, French silk, pumpkin, pumpkin streusel, sweet potato, pecan, and chocolate pecan) and take-and-bake dinner rolls with or without cranberry butter. Place your order ASAP by calling (217) 402-2319.

Hunny Bunny Bakes, 2006 S Neil St., Champaign: Pre-order your Thanksgiving pies from Hunny Bunny Bakes. Options include apple, pumpkin, or pecan and can be ordered online here. Pickup on either Nov. 22 or 23 inside the CU flower house.

Baldarotta’s Porketta and Sicilian Sausage: 300 S. Broadway Ave., Urbana: Baldarotta’s offers pre-orders for its twist on traditional Thanksgiving dinner with options like porketta, lasagna, sausage and fennel dressing, and more. Place your order by Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4 p.m. for pickup Wednesday anytime between 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. See its Thanksgiving menu here.

Hickory River Smokehouse, Urbana and Champaign: Order your choice of whole smoked turkey or ham or half a ham by Nov. 18 for pickup between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. You can choose to order just the main meat or meat with sides for a complete Thanksgiving dinner.

Hopscotch Bakery + Market, 802 W. John St., Champaign: Order ahead to pick your choice of its classic pumpkin pie, cranberry-apple crumble, sweet potato bread pudding, stollen, mini pecan pies, mini pumpkin cheesecakes, challah, garlic parmesan rolls or garlic and herb compound butter. All pre-orders are available for pickup on Nov. 23 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Industrial Donut, 501 Commerce Dr., Savoy: Preorder a box of Thanksgiving-themed donuts to make your Thanksgiving morning extra sweet. Special boxes are by preorder only and only available while supplies last. Donut delay.

Modern Family Dinners, Carle at the Fields, 3302 Mission Dr, Champaign: Two size options are available for pickup (4 person and 10-12 person) for your Thanksgiving feast. Choose turkey and gravy or ham and glaze,plus various a la carte side options. Made just like your mom does it! Appetizers and desserts as well as all other items available a la carte as well. Order online by noon on Nov. 16, pickup in store on Wednesday, Nov. 23, noon-6 p.m.

Party in a Pinch Catering: Orders must be placed by Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. Pick up on Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the evening or Wednesday, Nov. 23 by noon. A complete meal serves 6-8 people and comes with choice of turkey or ham, three sides, and choice of pumpkin bars or pecan bars (for additional cost you can order a different dessert). Appetizers, sides and desserts also available. Call (217) 766-2031 or email info@partyinapinchcatering.com to place your order.

Piato Cafe, 804 E. Main St., Urbana: Order your choice of cider brined turkey with apples, oranges, peppercorns and onions, herb roasted turkey with rosemary, thyme, parsley, garlic, coriander, cumin, salt, pepper and olive oil, or a vegetarian dish of acorn stuffed squash filled with golden raisin and vegetable rice. Sides and desserts also available. Deadline for orders is Nov. 20 at noon. Pick up is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 23 – delivery is also available for $5. The New Sweet Indulgence, 2149 S. Neil St., Champaign: Take your choice of Thanksgiving sugar cookies, a delicious assortment of pies, tarts, dinner rolls, pie crusts, cakes, and cupcakes.  Also available are an assortment of cheesecake varieties as well was turkey cake truffles. Place your pre-order by calling (217) 352-2433 or in person at the store.

Pekara Bakery & Bistro, 811 W Springfield Ave., Champaign: Pekara and Central Illinois Bakehouse are offering a variety of breads, pies, rolls, pastries, and more, fresh-baked for your Thanksgiving celebration. Order online on the website. The final day to place Thanksgiving orders is Monday, Nov. 14, with pickup options of either Nov. 19 or 23.

Curtis Orchard, 3902 S. Duncan Road, Champaign: The orchard offers a variety of pies, from apple to cherry to classic pumpkin and more. Curtis is a go-to option when we want to bring a treat to impress (without the work!) to our holiday dinner. Order via (217) 359-5565 or from the website.

Maize at the Station, 100 N Chestnut St, Champaign: Pre-order tamales for a unique addition to your Thanksgiving table! Pre-order a dozen or a half-dozen of chicken, pork, or rajas (or a mix!) and choose whether you’d like them hot or cold with reheating instructions. Pickup on Nov. 23 between 11am – 7pm.

Available last year but not yet confirmed for 2022:

Big Grove Tavern, 1 E. Main St., Champaign: In the past, Big Grove has offered delicious Thanksgiving fixings and we anticipate that they will this year, too. Check the website for the latest details – we’ll update when we know more.

Harvest Market, 2029 S. Neil St., Champaign: Last year, Harvest Market offered Thanksgiving dinner for six, reserved in person at the Harvest Market deli, just heat and serve. Check the website for details – we’ll update when we know more.

The Cake Artist’s Studio, 1100 B, W. Bloomington Road, Champaign: Cake Artist’s Studio always has an array of custom-ordered and in-the-case delights. In the past it has offered Thanksgiving specials – check its website for more.
