The Winter Wellness Walk is returning to Allerton Park and this is exactly what we’re looking for to celebrate the holiday spirit in 2020
This family-friendly, after-dark holiday lights experience is going to be held for the fifth consecutive year just a short drive beyond Champaign-Urbana at Allerton Park in Monticello
The winter holiday season is inching closer and closer. And while many of us are wondering which of our holiday traditions will be a no-go this year, we know that some of our favorites will be here in all their glory — Christmas lights, in particular! We cannot WAIT to drive around and see all the festive twinkling lights this December while sipping hot cocoa in the car with the kids.
Taking that tradition just one beautiful step further, we are happy to share that the Kirby Winter Wellness Walk is set to return to Allerton Park this year for a socially-distanced, outdoors, TWO-month-long display of holiday cheer.
The Winter Wellness Walk features an illuminated one-mile walk through the gardens of Allerton Park after dark. The path will be familiar to Allerton visitors, including a trip through the Fu Dog Garden and other Allerton favorites.
This year, the walk will stay illuminated all the way through January 31, 2021 so you can enjoy the lights well beyond Christmas and the New Year. Visit nightly from December 4 and January 31, between 5 and 9 p.m. (excluding Christmas and New Year’s Day). There is a suggested donation of $10 per car upon arrival (excluding opening night, see below). You can make a donation online or they can be made at the North entrance of the Park.
NEW THIS YEAR! To support social distancing practices and limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, a reservation is required for this year’s Winter Wellness Walk. Find details and sign up here.
Visitors must wear a face mask when going on the walk and practice social distancing of six feet at all times.
Opening Night – December 4
Join in the opening night festivities to kick off the celebration! There will be snacks and beverages from local food trucks and special entertainment for this night only, too. You must register ahead of time and the cost is $10 per person (12 and under are free). Select a time here as groups will be limited to 50 people each hour, and tickets are going quickly (and will sell out, so don’t delay.)
