Did you know that Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gwendolyn Brooks published her first poem, “Eventide,” when she was just 13 years old?
Head to the Douglass Branch to celebrate National Poetry Month by learning more about former Illinois and U.S. Poet Laureate Miss Brooks, getting a glimpse of the Gwendolyn Brooks Collection from the University’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library, and composing your own magnetic poetry! For school aged kids.
