Head to Mahomet for another event in this annual Garden Speaker Series! The theme for this year’s series will explore topics related to ethnobotany and human uses of plants past and present. Join Danielle Alesi, Assistant Professor of History at Millikin University as she discusses European reactions to plant and animal species Indigenous to the Americas from 1492-1700, why plants were incorporated into Colonial and European diets at much higher rates than American animals, and how the resulting colonial food system affected Indigenous food culture and shaped the American environment.
