Get outside on Saturday, June 25, 2022 for the eighth annual BeeBlitz, capping off National Pollinator Week! Nature lovers and concerned citizens in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Ohio are invited to get outside and snap pictures of honey & bumble bees on Saturday, June 25th. Then, upload your findings to BeeSpotter, the citizen science project run in collaboration between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Department of Entomology and the Office for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education.
You are welcome to go out spotting on your own any time or join us for in-person events during the morning and early afternoon. Attend as little or as much of it as you like!
8:30AM – 9:20AM @ the Pollinatarium (606 W Windsor Rd, Urbana, IL 61801): Start off at the Pollinatarium to celebrate another National Pollinator Week. A group will venture out into the fields surrounding the Pollinatarium to photograph honey & bumble bees.
9:30AM – 11:00AM @ Meadowbrook Park: A guided expedition through Meadowbrook Park’s Sensory Garden and Spomer Prairie is departing from the Garden Pavilion. Bring your camera or smartphone and comfortable walking shoes, and be ready for an adventure!
11:10AM – 12:30PM @ the Pollinatarium: Head back to the Pollinatarium to spot some more bees and upload the photos to BeeSpotter.
