Join the library for an awe-inspiring experience as this group gathers to watch an ALMOST total solar eclipse! Here in Champaign, you will experience a partial eclipse with 97.9% totality. This phenomenon occurs when the moon perfectly aligns with the sun, casting a shadow over earth and turning day into twilight. The solar eclipse will begin in Champaign at approximately 12:47 p.m. and reach its maximum point at 2:05 p.m.
Enjoy music by DJ Silkee, free safety glasses, crafts for kids, face painting, and the NASA livestream on view inside! For all ages. Rain or shine!
Looking for eclipse glasses? Free eclipse safety glasses will be available at the library starting April 1. Pick up at the Main Library an hour before open (April 1–6 at 8 a.m., April 7 at 11 a.m.). Or stop by during open hours at the Douglass Branch.
