The Champaign County Freedom Celebration Committee is excited to announce that the fireworks display will take place the evening of July 4th, 2021.
While they are disappointed that with the current COVID restrictions, they will not be able to hold the 5K race and parade this year, they believe the community will appreciate and embrace the fireworks celebration, put on by the committee since 1949.
The fireworks display will take place at approximately 9:15 pm on July 4th as usual from the University of Illinois parking lot E-14 located just west of the State Farm Center. No food vendors or other entertainment will be provided. Guests are asked to view the fireworks from dispersed locations and avoid areas where social distancing is not possible.
The University of Illinois requires that face coverings must be worn in all public places and settings on campus where social distancing of six feet cannot be maintained. This includes outdoor spaces on campus and while traveling to and from events.
Further updates will be posted to their website as they become available.
