Families can choose from many events and activities happening this weekend in Champaign-Urbana

We’re not going to tell you how many weeks of summer are left before we start seeing school buses on the streets of Champaign-Urbana again. We are going to tell you that this weekend is packed full of fun, so it seems like a great weekend to soak in moments at the pools, parks, libraries, theaters and lakes that we have right in our community. Make summer memories and find some free or budget-friendly fun, all weekend long! There’s plenty to choose from — our event calendar is a great place to begin.

iRead ● iCount®

Champaign County Forest Preserves

Saturday, July 25, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Come out for an exciting and family-friendly event at the Peninsula at Lake of the Woods, brought to you by the Forest Preserves in partnership with the Upper Sangamon River Conservancy. Summer Splash features a variety of activities including fishing, canoeing, kayaking, pedal boats, educational exhibits, live music, and more! FREE.

Participants can save time by signing a waiver ahead of time. New this year — FREE shuttle service from Champaign (Dodds Park) and Urbana (Crystal Lake Park) to Lake of the Woods! Note your interest in the shuttle when you fill out the waiver.
