An open casting call for background actors is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, in Rantoul.
Forge Film Acting is hosting anyone who is interested in serving in a background casting pool for movies being shot in Central Illinois.
The process is simple and straightforward: This is not an audition and prospects do not need to learn any lines. Simply show up, fill out a form and have a picture taken. That’s it. (Actors are welcome to bring a headshot and resume but they are not required.)

Sarah Cayce, casting director and owner of Compass Casting, said casting projects this year include sports films, horror films, thrillers, romantic mysteries and short films.
“We have so many projects that look for kids, which means a parent needs to come with them,” Cayce said. “The signup takes moments and gets Open Callers acquainted with the Flyover Film Studio Campus on the old Chanute Air Force Base.”
Who they’re looking for
Anyone who wants to be considered for background and speaking roles. Those who have already entered the pool don’t need to show up again unless your look has changed considerably. Movie executives are always looking for fresh faces and, because they don’t know exactly what looks they’ll need for a given project, they’re looking to compile as many different types as possible.
