Tickets to the new Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago will go on sale May 6. And there’s some great news for Illinois residents.
The center opens on June 19, with most of the 19.3-acre Presidential Center Campus being free, open to the public, and not requiring tickets. Some examples: exploring original works of art; the playground; the Wetland Walk; the newest branch of the Chicago Public Library; a place to connect at the John Lewis Plaza; the Eleanor Roosevelt Fruit and Vegetable Garden; the Picnic Area; the Women’s Garden; and the Great Lawn.

To visit the Museum, however, you will need to purchase tickets. General admission tickets include access to all four levels of the museum, access to the Oval Office and access to the Sky Room. Tickets to the museum are timed-ticket entry only.
Admission is $30 for adults (ages 12 and up); $23 for ages 3-11; children 2 and under are free; $26 for an adult Illinois resident; and $15 for Illinois residents ages 3-11. Proof of residency is required. There are also numerous ways for groups to receive discounted tickets.
But here’s the better news: Illinois residents receive free general admission to the museum every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Illinois Free Day tickets will be available when tickets go on sale in May. Note that capacity limits remain the same on Illinois Free Days, so visitors are strongly encouraged to reserve tickets online and in advance of a trip.
