With over 75 events (and more added every day), there are sporting events, an arts festival and, of course, one of our favorite events of the year, the Beckman Institute Open House and Engineering Open House. This weekend is one that we can confidently say, “there’s something for everyone in Champaign-Urbana this week!”

Prairie Gardens
Celebrate the start of spring at Prairie Gardens’ Spring Open House, Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12. Come see what’s new, shop exclusive 2-day specials, enter to win garden giveaways, and enjoy free garden seminars. Bring the whole family—kids can join in the fun with pot-painting, strawberry planting, and face-painting. A special terrarium workshop will also be offered Sunday afternoon (pre-registration required). It’s a fun and inspiring way to welcome spring together!

Camp of the Week – Parkland College for Kids
Parkland College presents exciting youth and teen camps to fill the summer days! College for Kids two-week, half-day camps for ages 6–13 offer fun and engaging STEAM classes in coding, technology, visual and performing arts, culinary, math, science, and much more. DiscoverU, the teen programming, offers students 12-18 the opportunity to explore camps that may lead to potential careers and help develop and build key skills for the future in Parkland’s state-of-the art facilities. Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology
The Beckman Institute Open House is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 10, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026. It’s an opportunity for Champaign-Urbana community members to encounter the science, meet the people and experience the impact of world-changing discovery. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to engage with more than 30 exhibits, participate in hands-on demos, complete the science scavenger hunt and take a commemorative photo at the selfie station. This event is free and open to the public.

Camp Kiwanis offers a high-energy day camp experience where campers hit the bullseye in archery, navigate the waters by canoe, and dive into hands-on STEM explorations and art projects.
