Convenient Care Plus is moving across the street in Urbana
Your child falls down at the playground and then complains of a sore wrist. You contemplate taking her in to get an x-ray, but thoughts of long waits and emergency department co-pays make you cringe.
If you are unfamiliar with Convenient Care Plus, let us introduce you to this level of walk-in care somewhere between Convenient Care and the Emergency Department. It is now located in Carle’s South Clinic location at 601 W. University in Urbana to improve patient access to care.

Convenient Care Plus, which first opened inside of Carle Hospital in Urbana several years ago, offers “traditional” convenient care treatment as well as expanded services like advanced lab testing and imaging.
It’s for patients who have symptoms that aren’t minor or serious, but fall somewhere in between. Injuries that require x-rays, pain that may need an ultrasound, symptoms that need lab test results right away— Convenient Care Plus is designed for patients that need immediate, but not emergency, care.
(Carle provides this symptom checker to help patients determine where to seek treatment.)
If you find yourself unsure whether you should go to Convenient Care or the ER, this is where to go. The location makes transfer to the ER simple, if need be, and provides on-site laboratory and radiology care.
We talked to Dr. Tracy Grotrian, Carle physician, when Convenient Care Plus first opened. She said the response since opening has been very positive. “Our patients are very appreciate of the services we can offer,” Grotrian said.
Convenient Care Plus hours are Monday-Sunday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., including holidays. Patients can park in the South Garage on McCollough Avenue and patients can be dropped off in the circle drive.
Appointments are not necessary but can be made via MyCarle.
