The rapidly evolving donut scene in the Champaign-Urbana area took another turn on Wednesday when it was revealed that Industrial Donut in Savoy will cease operations on Saturday, or sooner is supplies run out.
“This decision hasn’t come easy,” Industrial Donut posted on social media. “Like many small businesses, we’ve faced mounting challenges — rising costs, decreasing sales, and the growing pressure from chain competition. Despite our passion and dedication, the numbers have simply become too hard to overcome.”

Customers who possess gift cards, vouchers, tokens or loyalty points are asked to “come in now and use them before we close. Please also understand that as we wind down operations, not all donut varieties will be available.”
The made-to-order shop opened in 2019, drawing raves from patrons for its fresh, unique donuts. But much has changed since.
Pandamonium Doughnuts, which started as a wildly popular food truck and expanded into a storefront, closed earlier this year. Parlor Doughnuts opened in Champaign at Old Farm Shops. And Royal Donut, a popular Danville-based institution, has plans to move into the space abandoned by Pandamonium.
