As we wind down the scorching heat, we can begin to enjoy some of our favorite fall things

Families can choose from many events and activities happening this weekend in Champaign-Urbana

It isn’t easy to forget about the awesome fall activities coming our way even though we still have summer options (like pool time) on the table. This weekend, we should be able to dine outside, take in some festivals, dip in the pool and enjoy a weekend of fun, while dreaming of corn mazes, apple picking and pumpkin-filled porches. Looking for that perfect balance of summer, fall and everything in between, of course!

Head to Champaign Park District’s historic Hessel Park this Saturday, August 23 for the ILLIAC! This free show in the park takes place from 3:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., featuring chamber orchestra Sinfonia da Camera, the amazing Marching Illini, The Soul Syndicate, and Bandoneon Massacre.

Back for year two, the ILLIAC hosts several food trucks so you have dinner plans solved. This year, the ILLIAC hosts Smith Burger Co., Kona Ice, Huaraches Moroleon, La Paloma, Stango Cuisine, and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck. Plus, there will be beer and wine for purchase for adults over 21! The ILLIAC promises to be the perfect way to close out summer in C-U and welcome the school year, so bring your family, a friend, and have a picnic on Saturday. Visit theilliac.com for more info!

Urbana’s Night Market at the Square

Arts & Culture and Urbana’s Market at the Square are partnering up for a vibrant, unique evening experience in Downtown Urbana on Thursday nights for a limited time during late summer. Join them at the Lincoln Square Mall parking lot at the farmers market location!

There will be food trucks, art/maker vendors, live painting, and live music performances from local and regional bands. Unwind, bring chairs, blankets, grab dinner, shop local and enjoy live music!
