The Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend team is sponsoring a series of hands-only CPR classes, a life-changing skill that could save someone you love.
The classes are free but registration is required. And, importantly, spots are limited. These classes tend to fill up very quickly, so those interested are advised to not delay. All are welcome.
The next set of available classes are March 15 at 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Participants need only attend one session. Classes are conducted at Christie Clinic at The Fields, 3101 Fields South Dr., Champaign.

During the Christie Clinic Half Marathon last April, 45-year-old Christie surgeon Rafael Ruggieri suffered a cardiac arrest while running in Meadowbrook Park. Ruggieri survived because of the care he received that day, which began with high-quality CPR by his son, Isaac, who was running with him that day, and three other runners, who also knew hands-only CPR.
The first four CPR sessions, scheduled for Feb. 8, are sold out.
