Desserts, doughnuts, and drinks featuring your favorite Girl Scout Cookies are appearing on menus for a limited time only
Girl Scouts are happy selling directly to you now
While many people wait anxiously for Punxsutawney Phil to give his prediction for the arrival of spring, we’re pretty sure he only emerges from his den on Groundhog Day to inquire about the availability of Girl Scout cookies. For many of us, the start of cookie season in an otherwise gloomy time of year is just that newsworthy. This year, cookie sales are scheduled from Feb. 2 to March 17 for Girl Scouts in Central Illinois.
During these next several weeks, you can get your annual Girl Scout cookie fix from individual girls, at booth sales, or online. In addition, you can donate boxes of cookies to first responders, the military, and other organizations. Remember that the cookies sold in our area come from ABC Baker, in case you are momentarily confused by different names for some of your favorites.
What if you seek an even more delectable Girl Scout cookie experience? Several area businesses are running limited-time specials of treats made using the cookies, or even inspired by them. We map out what we know below.
Industrial Donut (Savoy)
The folks at Industrial Donut are featuring a different Girl Scout cookie topping each week, having started off with a bang the first week in February with Thin Mints. Subsequent weeks will feature Samoas, Lemonades, Toast Yays, then most likely Trefoils.
Lucky Moon Pies & More (Mahomet)
Thin Mint brownies (made with Girl Scout cookies) have already made their 2024 debut on the menu at Lucky Moon. Watch its social media to see when these amazing brownies are available in store.
Pandamonium Doughnuts (Champaign and truck)
Pandamonium has been collaborating with the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois since 2015. In recent years, its Girl Scout doughnut creations have been featured during the month of March, so certain doughnut-loving chambanamoms will need to work on their patience.
In 2024 Pandamonium’s Girl Scout specials will include Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, and Lemonades. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these special Girl Scout Donut flavors will go straight back to the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois. As always, keep an eye on social media for the rotating array of specials.
Jarling’s Custard Cup (Champaign)
If you have had the chance to experience the Jarling’s Custard Cup/Girl Scout cookie mashup in the past, you are probably awaiting this special time as eagerly as we are. From Thin Mint or Caramel DeLite snowstorms to sundaes for the kids, Girl Scout cookies make a super tasty mix-in option for your favorite Jarling’s creation.
Select Girl Scout cookies are now available as mix-ins or as toppings at Jarling’s through Feb. 17. Jarling’s purchases its cookie supply from Champaign-Urbana area troops — it looks like it plans to have Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, and Caramel deLites on hand this year.
Central Illinois Bakehouse
Be on the lookout for Girl Scout Croughnuts at Pekara Bistro and Martinelli’s Market, both in Champaign … and possibly at the Champaign-Urbana Winter Farmer’s Market inside Urbana’s Lincoln Square Mall. In 2024, fans can look forward to Thin Mint (the classic croughnut dipped in chocolate icing and topped with thin mint cookies and green sprinkles) and Toast Yay (a churro croughnut dipped in a maple syrup glaze and topped with toast yay cookies) seasonal croughnut specials.
Hunny Bunny Bakes (Champaign)
Mark your calendars for Feb. 29, when Hunny Bunny Bakes will be stocking Girl Scout Cookie cake jars — but only for 2 weeks, so don’t delay. You’ll be able to choose between the following: A Minted Original (Thin Mint), Caramel is deLITEful (Caramel Delites), Life Gives You Lemonades (Lemonades), and Peanut Butter Pretties (Peanut Butter Patties). Mary has said in the past that she might stash some cookie boxes in her deep freezer, so you never really know what she has up her sleeve.
Whisk Coffee and Wine Bar (Mahomet)
Can we reveal a best-kept secret? Whisk has been making frappes and mochas with caramel delights, peanut butter patties, and thin mints since cookie sales began at the start of February. These creations are only available now “until we run out of cookies.”
