We love our kids but who doesn’t need an adult night out on the town every once in a while to remind us that being a grownup can be fun!
Whether you’re looking for a date-night atmosphere or just a fun time with friends, we’ve rounded up a list of the top places for adults to go in Champaign-Urbana in February.
Thanks to Krannert Center for the Performing Arts for presenting this month’s date night ideas. Visit the Krannert website to explore the list of entertainment choices for a fun February outing!
Champaign County Area Restaurant Week: The eighth-annual event is in high gear right now so if you’re so inclined, hit your favorite restaurant — or try out a new spot — to enjoy some of the area’s finest food. Check out special menus for the week. Continues through Feb. 3.
Witch: A delectable adaptation of a Jacobean drama with Faustian echoes, Witch by Jen Silverman is a vibrant dark comedy that centers on a clever social outcast. When the Devil, a charming trickster, arrives to tempt people in the town of Edmonton, he preys on those who appear vulnerable. In a social setting of nefarious gamesmanship and social striving, the devil may just meet his artful match! Multiple showings Feb. 9-17 at Krannert.
Hot Sauce Tasting: Art Mart in Champaign is the host for your chance on Feb. 9 to sample a bunch of cool, er, hot sauces. And good news: Beverages will be available to re-set your palate.
Uniting Pride Lovefest: Uniting Pride of Champaign County offers an event that ensures LGBTQIA+ couples will feel welcomed and loved for Valentine’s Day. This Feb. 10 event supports the UP Center. Details here.
Super Bowl Watch Party: You might not care about the teams involved but you can still have some fun Feb. 11 at The Canopy Club. Get all the details here.
Carnaval!: Slated for Feb. 13 at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Carnival is a concert “celebrating the end of the holiday season before the introspection of Lent begins, culminating in Mardi Gras.” Lyric Theatre @ Illinois will celebrate Spanish and Portuguese music, dancing and revelry. Bring your Mardi Gras mask, dress up, enjoy drinks.
Galentine’s Celebration: Celebrate friendship and fun at the Urbana Free Library’s Galentine’s Celebration on Feb. 14. Kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with self care, a meditation and gentle stretch led by yoga teacher extraordinaire (we know from personal experience!) Maggie Taylor. Then it’s time for crafts, tea or hot chocolate and marshmallows, and photos in the photo booth.
Gospel Documentary at The Virginia Theatre: The Arthouse Experience Film Series presents Gospel: Where Song and Sermon Meet. The Feb. 16 film digs deep into the origin story of Black spirituality through sermon and song. General admission is $7.
Untitled Fundraiser: UNTITLED 2024 is a one-of-a-kind late-night fundraiser on Feb. 23 at the Orpheum Theatre to raise funds for 40 North’s programs, which include the Boneyard Arts Festival, ACE Awards and Friday Night Live, among others. Get details and tickets here.
Adult Skate Night at Skateland: We have an adult townie friend who grew up at Skateland and still loves to visit. She even had her own birthday party at Skateland last year! It’s not just for kids! Adults Only on Feb. 25. Details here.
