A new beverage shop has arrived in Savoy and — no exaggeration — nearly 3 septillion drink combos await you
The drive-through soda shop offers treats, pretzels, breakfast options and more to accompany your beverage
Driving through Effingham, Olney, Robinson, Mt. Carmel, or Mattoon required stops by my family for a delicious treat at a soda shop called Ginger Ale’s. Now that we have a location right here in the Champaign-Urbana area, community members can join in my family’s excitement as our favorites are right down the road.
With over 2.8 SEPTILLION drink options (no exaggeration), we think there’s a beverage for anyone at Ginger Ale’s, now open at 405 Jones Dr. in Savoy. Our advice for your first trip — and maybe even your 101st trip — would be to study the menu before you end up at the drive-up menu. With so many options, it can be overwhelming to know where to start.
Marshmallow tea quickly became my favorite treat from Ginger Ale’s (and anyone who knows me around this area can vouch for that) and it is wonderful yet dangerous that I now have this option right here in town. My husband is more of a ginger ale guy himself and enjoys trying different flavor combinations mixed in. Our girls love flavor combinations with boba (strawberry, blueberry, cherry, kiwi, yogurt, and rainbow boba available) and even shimmer.
Many of the locations have their own specially named flavors such as the “white squirrel” of Olney (marshmallow/vanilla), the “maroon” of Robinson (red raspberry and butterscotch), or the “cobra venom” of Savoy (kiwi and strawberry). In the Savoy location’s first week of business, we’ve tried such combinations as a cinnamon Sprite, blue raspberry ginger ale, strawberry lemonade, fuzzy navel ginger freeze, green apple ginger ale, and of course, the trusty marshmallow tea. About the only thing that we haven’t tried is the breakfast, but now that Ginger Ale’s is just around the corner, we will make that happen.
If you are in the mood for a quick bite to go along with your drink, try its delicious pretzels (plain, salted, cinnamon and sugar, ranch, or garlic herb) with cheese sauce. Hat toss also to the cheesecake pretzels which are delicious for a sweet treat with dipping frosting.
The plan for the Champaign County Ginger Ale’s franchise is to expand to other areas of the county in upcoming years. It also hopes to offer picnic tables in the shade for patrons to enjoy their treats.
Orders can be placed online and picked up at the store. Make sure to sign up for rewards using your phone number. The rewards add up quickly. If you don’t believe me, we’ve already received a discount for being a frequent customer by giving our phone number at ordering and Ginger Ale’s hasn’t been open yet for an entire week.
