A Golden Girls Night: If you’re a fan of the popular television series Golden Girls from years ago, check out The Literary in Champaign on March 11. Dr. Kate Browne, author of a definitive academic journal on the series, will discuss her work. That’s followed by some Golden Girls trivia.
Everything Everywhere All at Once: The Oscar-nominated movie that has drawn plenty of buzz will be shown at The Virginia Theatre as part of The Arthouse Experience Film Series on March 8. Tickets are $7.
St. Patrick’s Day Fun with ’90s Daughter: A famous Champaign-Urbana party band, ’90s Daughter, gets things rolling at Boomerangs in Urbana. From 7-10 p.m. on March 17. No cover.
Journey with TOTO at State Farm Center: Journey, inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, visits the State Farm Center (with special guest TOTO) on March 20. Purim Drag Show at Canopy Club: Illini Hillel’s sixth annual Purim Drag Show hits The Canopy Club on Sunday. Advanced tickets are $5 and the show kicks off at 9 p.m.
Wine Tasting and Dueling Pianos: This popular event returns after a hiatus, featuring an Art Mart wine tasting, snacks and Dueling Pianos entertaining. Set for March 30 at Carmon’s in Champaign. Proceed benefit Crisis Nursery.
Krannert Center at the Virginia — Dance at Illinois Downtown: Dance at Illinois Downtown features a contemporary African dance work by Dr. C. Kemal Nance with live music performed by an assembly of local drummers. That’s just the tip of the entertainment iceberg, which takes place March 30-April 1 at the Virginia Theatre.
University of Illinois Latin Jazz Ensemble: Here’s another form of music to enjoy in March. The Rose Bowl Tavern in Urbana is hosting the talented jazz students at the U of I on March 21.
Farm Aid ’85 in Music and Memory: Remember the inaugural Farm Aid, the mega-concert at Memorial Stadium in September 1985 that raised money for farmers? U of I associate professor Dan Gilbert will discuss the event’s musical and political significance March 9 at Champaign Public Library.
