Forget “The Voice.” Here’s your chance to perform in front of 15,000 of your fellow fans at an Illinois basketball game.
Auditions are being held to perform the national anthem at an Illini men’s or women’s game this season. The tryouts are set for 5-8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Hall of Fame Room in the Bielfeldt Administration Building (1700 S. Fourth St.) in Champaign.
Those seeking to audition must fill out this form. Submitting the form does not guarantee a performance at a men’s or women’s basketball game.
If you can’t attend the audition, you can submit a link to your performance recording. Priority for scheduling performers for games will be given to those who audition in person.
This is the second year that auditions have been offered for aspiring national anthem performers. And, yes, notoriety can follow: Last season a student made headlines when he performed the anthem on his violin.
