Sholem Aquatic Center announces several changes to schedule for 2022 season
Evening swim lesson options, along with river walk and aerobics options, are some of the highlights in addition to the earlier opening time that Sholem Aquatic Center in Champaign will feature this year
If you have participated in programming at Sholem Aquatic Center in years past, you may have had an email drop in your inbox this week outlining some exciting changes to the usual lineup. Some highlights include evening lap swim and river walk hours, along with an earlier facility opening time.
Sholem Aquatic Center aquatics manager Brittany Fairfield said patron feedback prompted the changes.
Sholem will open at an earlier time this year
Doors to Sholem will be opening an hour earlier this year, with NEW hours for 2022. This year’s operating hours will be:
Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Season pass holders will continue to be able to enter early, now at 11 a.m., seven days a week.
Evening swim lessons will be available
This one is huge for working parents, or families who just find the evening time working better for them. Morning swim lessons will still be available, but there will now be options on weekday evenings between 6:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
More evening options for adult programming, including lap swim, water aerobics and the river run/walk
Weekday evenings at Sholem will be primarily focused on programming after 6 p.m. There will be lap swim and river run/walk hours now until 8 p.m. (There will be specific dates the river run/walk may not be available, but Sholem will communicate that as the season approaches.)
Evening water aerobics classes will be available, too, in addition to morning options.
Fairfield acknowledged that 2021 brought many staffing challenges to Sholem. Looking ahead to a new year, she wrote, “I hope this can be the year that Sholem shines as one of your family’s favorite places to be in Champaign.”
