Farmer City Haunted Forest Moves Back to the Forest in 2021

August 19, 2021 By From The Editors

A Champaign-Urbana area favorite during Halloween season, the Farmer City Haunted Forest is headed back to the forest in 2021

Last year, Halloween events and activities looked like a lot of drive-through events, which had us grateful for opportunities to celebrate our favorite spooky traditions with some modifications. But we can’t help but be excited to see some of our annual favorites returning to their usual roots in 2021, like the Farmer City Haunted Forest.
Haunted Forest Moves to Main Street

The Farmer City Haunted Forest is headed back to the forest in 2021! Held at the Salt Creek Area 21 Camp Sites at South Park in Farmer City, the forest is the perfect setting for this unique Halloween-themed event. Best of all, it is a FREE event (though donations are welcome).

Last year, families drove through the event in their own vehicle in the downtown square.

This year’s traditional event will include:

  • Halloween-themed decorations in the Area 21 campsites
  • hay ride through the forest (our favorite!)
  • barrel train rides during select hours
  • costume contest
  • photo ops
  • food vendors
  • family friendly daylight matinee hours during select afternoons (with much less spookiness than the evenings hours)

Haunted Forest Evening Hours

Friday, Oct. 22, 6-11 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 23, 6-11 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 29, 6-11 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 30, 6-11 p.m.

The Farmer City Haunted Forest is a haunted hayrack ride through the Salt Creek Campsites, located in South Park just south of Farmer City. The hay rack ride takes you around South Park and then into the Haunted Forest where the campsites are decorated in various haunted Halloween themes. Beware of the live scares you may encounter on your ride.

Family Friendly Daylight Matinee Hours

Saturday, Oct. 23, 3-6 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 30, 3-6 p.m.

The Farmer City Haunted Forest offers a matinee on Saturday between 3-6 p.m. for visitors to ride on a hayrack through the campsites during the daylight hours and without live scares. A costume contest will happen during the matinee; check in when you arrive. Barrel train rides will be available during the matinee hours also.

Have any photos from the Haunted Forest in 2019 or years prior? Submit them to us at editor@chambanamoms.com, as we’d love to see them! Any submissions may be included in a future chambanamoms.com post or social media shout-out.
