When it comes to top-quality entertainment, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is the place to be in September. And this year’s ELLNORA Guitar Festival is the highlight. ELLNORA takes place at the Krannert Center for Performing Arts on Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 5-7.
Barn Music Festival at Allerton Park: Join the University of Illinois School of Music during this candlelit weekend of crickets, cocktails, and rich music in Allerton’s idyllic Music Barn. NOTE: This event often sells out. Buy your tickets in advance for the Sept. 27-28 event.
The Office Trivia Night: Reserve your table NOW for this fun night of game show joviality on Sept. 8 at Barrelhouse 34 in Champaign.
3D Printing for Adults: Seriously, we’re often jealous of our kids because of the super cool things they get to make. Here’s YOUR chance! Hit the Champaign Public Library on Sept. 22 to become immersed in the world of 3D printing. Registration is required ***UPDATE*** (there is a waiting list).
Monticellobration: The evening events of the Sept. 21 festival are geared toward the adult crowd, highlighted by a series of musical acts. The kicker: They’re FREE!
Meadowbrook Park Jazz Walk: Enjoy local jazz music while experiencing the beautiful sculptures at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana on Sept. 13. It’s free (and appropriate for children, too) and a chance to relax and unwind in a peaceful setting.
Country music — live music and a feature film: It’s a night out with live music, food, friends, and local filmmaking. On Sept. 13 at the Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign, this FREE celebration features Illinois Country — WILL-TV’s new documentary following our region’s role in the history and impact of country music.
Comedian Steve Sabo at Alto Vineyards: A 28-year performer, Sabo has made appearances on HBO, NBC, Comedy Central and others. Get your tickets early for the Sept. 20 event.
Artisan Cup and Fork: Mmmmm, food! The fifth annual farm-to-table culinary competition features six regionally renowned chefs using Central Illinois products. And you get to taste it! It’s Sept. 21 at Bluestem Hall in Urbana.
Pygmalion Festival: Music, technology, food, makers, and literature are all featured at this Champaign-Urbana festival, which is in its 15th year. This year, the festival takes place Sept. 26-28. Check out the schedule here.
Murder Mystery Dinner: The Champaign-Urbana Jaycees present “Murder on the Menu: Murder Mystery Dinner” Sept. 7 at the Elks Lodge in Savoy. Tickets are $45 and benefit several community projects.
