Make Plans to Beat the Heat in Champaign-Urbana

July 19, 2019 By From The Editors

With temperatures in central Illinois expected to reach the mid-90s this weekend, it’s important to remember there are ways to stay cool — well, OK, cooler — in these conditions.

Some tips:

Family Fun Weekend Planner for Champaign Urbana on Chambanamoms.com

  • We published eight ways to have an indoor, air-conditioned outing in Champaign-Urbana. We also have a guide to area swimming pools, which you’ll want to check out if you’re heading out to the pools for the first time this season.
  • Champaign County fairgoers will be permitted to bring in one sealed bottle of water per person.
  • The Champaign Park District has expanded its hours for the splash pads at Hessel Park and Douglass Park. We have the details.
  • Unfortunately, the timing of this heat wave isn’t ideal for patrons of Sholem Pool in Champaign. The pool will not be available on Saturday, July 20, because it is hosting the Central Illinois Swim Conference meet.

And, if all else fails … well, just sit and ponder this scene for a few moments:
