Top 5 Reasons to See Cinderella at State Farm Center (and a Giveaway)

December 9, 2018 By From The Editors

Chances are you’re quite familiar with the story of Cinderella. But it’s just as likely that you haven’t witnessed Cinderella quite like this.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella comes to the State Farm Center in Champaign on Dec. 16, and you have a chance to win two tickets to see it! We’ll get to that in a minute. But first, here’s our look at the top five reasons you need to see Cinderella at SFC:

The music. If you know anything about musicals you know Rodgers and Hammerstein, creators of such iconic productions as South Pacific and The Sound of Music. This time you’ll hear “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.”

The twists. As we mentioned, this isn’t exactly the classic Cinderella story. Rodgers and Hammerstein offer their own surprising twists in a humorous and romantic way.

The legacy. It was originally presented in 1957 on television with Julie Andrews. (It is the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written for TV.) It was recreated in 1965 with Lesley Ann Warren and again in 1997 with Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother.

The holidays. If you’re looking for a neat, somewhat unique gift idea, tickets to Cinderella would fit the bill. The cheapest ticket is $39, quite reasonable for a production of this quality. Find details here.

The giveaway. State Farm Center and Chambanamoms are giving away two tickets to the show! Enter below:
