Kids aren’t the only ones who love summer! And there are so many fun, grown-up things to do in Champaign-Urbana in June, you’re going to need to get those babysitters booked ASAP!
Whether you’re looking for a date-night atmosphere or just a fun afternoon with friends, we’ve rounded up a list of the top places for adults to go in Champaign-Urbana and beyond this month.
The Hairbanger’s Ball at Champaign’s City Center features a renown tribute band to the “hair bands” of the 1980s like Bon Jovi and Guns ‘N Roses. It’s a high-energy show that figures to bring back a lot of memories. Tickets are $10 and the show runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The School of Music at the University of Illinois is hosting a summer series of FREE harp concerts throughout June. Check the website for dates and times.
40 North’s Friday Night Live in Downtown Champaign kicks off June 1. Sure, it’s family-friendly, which we LOVE, but sometimes you just want to soak up our great downtown Champaign vibe while having a leisurely meal at a “grown-up” meal time while listening to great music.
Roast a wiener on an open fire and sip on some wine at Sleepy Creek Vineyards‘ “Wieners and Wine,” held every Friday now through October. You buy the drinks, they provide the hot dogs, fixings and fire to roast it over.
The Campustown Pub Tour happens June 21 — the longest day of the year! — and includes four drinks, three pub stops and one SlowRide pedal tour through Campustown. Tickets are $20 apiece.
Speaking of Campustown, while the students are gone for the summer try out one of our favorite restaurants. This is the time of year for locals to support campus town businesses (and to avoid the campus crowds!)
