The Paxton lights are back.
Victor Johnson, whose Christmas lights show synchronized to music has drawn visitors from across Illinois, said via his website that his two-year hiatus is over. He will put on a show this year.
After two years off from planning and assembling my massive Christmas display to focus on other projects, I am pleased to announce the return of Lighting Up Paxton for Christmas 2017. The very preliminary start date for the music synchronized display is Saturday, November 25.
A lot of things had to come together at the last minute to guarantee the time commitment necessary to pull off this massive project, but I’m happy to say that I look forward to having fun with Christmas lights again in 2017.
Check back here and on the Facebook page for continued updates as the target start date approaches.
In a Q-and-A with Chambanamoms in 2015, Johnson said he hoped to recreate his display at some point in the future. He took a break, he said, but had “big ideas in store for the next display.”
According to his Facebook page, Johnson has “140 additional strobes this year to cover the entire house.” The show traditionally encompasses more than 140,000 lights.
The display is at 332 W. Patton Street in Paxton. For directions and a history of the show, check out a previous interview with Johnson.
