Spark announced in March its plans to open at Lincoln Square in the space most recently occupied by Flyght Bar and Lounge.

“People are so excited,” executive director Sonya Darter said. “They stop by all the time to say how the community needs it, and how excited they are to open. Everyone says they’re going to live here. We’ve had really positive responses.”

Spark has hosted a few private events prior to its public opening. On June 24, Spark will begin its regular hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday; 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Spark is closed Monday and Tuesday. It is able to host private events during off hours.

“Our mission is really centered around innovation and giving children some of the life skills they need in the world today,” Darter said. “We’re really trying to teach kids how to problem solve and think differently about solutions while working together.”

Admission is $5 for all ages. There are two membership levels: The Spark 4 membership is $100 and includes unlimited admissions for four family members as well as discounts for purchases inside the facility. The Spark 6 membership is $150 and includes unlimited admissions for six family members plus grandparents, discounts, and reciprocal privileges for more than 200 children’s museums across the country. (See more info about this program.)

Spark offers a barrier-free entrance, restrooms and ADA-compliant ramps.

The Cafe will feature organic foods and a variety of drinks, including beer, wine and cocktails (in evening hours). Food choices include soups and salads; smoothies, yogurt, fruit and cheese plates; pastries, muffins and oatmeal; healthy snacks; ice cream parlor; flatbreads and pizza; paninis and wraps. Beverages will also include coffee, latte, cold and hot tea, bottled water, soda, milk (and alternatives).

No outside food will be allowed with the exception of baby formula.
