Once upon a time, we here at chambanamoms.com made T-shirts that read “Proud to be a Chambana mom.” It held double meaning for us; of course it was a reference to the little website that could. But in the broader community sense, it reflected the pride we have at raising our families in this place we call home.
Now, we have a mission for you. And we hope you will accept it.
We want to know: what makes you proud to live in this community? Is it your family? Is it a particular place or organization? Is it a great University?
Today we are announcing the #ChambanaProud Photo Contest.
We want you to take photos that show your pride in being a Chambana mom, dad, kid, citizen, pet — the possibilities are endless. We want you to post those photos to social media sites such as Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook and be sure to use the hashtag #chambanaproud. (You can even use silly apps to put the hashtag on the photo like I did at right, but by no means required). You can also email them the old fashion way to us.
Each Thursday starting next week for four weeks, we will put up some of the photos on our website. The #chambanaproud photos will have a permanent home on our new-and-improved website to be launched in the early fall. (Did I just say website redesign? Well, you heard it here first!)
So what’s in it for you, you ask? Well, our first goal is to show the world how proud we are of our community. And when we say Chambana, we don’t just mean Champaign and Urbana – we mean the entire Champaign-Urbana area metro which encompasses Champaign County and its collar counties.
But this is a “contest” and we didn’t forget the prizes! The grand prize winner will win a family photo session with our very own Erin Knowles Photography (a $400 value). And we will have four category winners who will win four $25 gift cards to Bella Bambini.
The four categories are:
- Chambana People
- Chambana Places
- Illini Pride
- Chambana Community
So what are the rules?
— The most important rule is have fun! However, we will not accept entries that we deem to be inappropriate.
— You can enter as many times as you want. Contest will end at 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 16, 2013; no entries will be accepted after that.
— To enter, post your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram or elsewhere and make sure to use the hashtag #chambanaproud. You can also email entries to us (editor@chambanamoms.com). If you’re concerned that we won’t see it, post the links on our Facebook page, Tweet them to us, tag us in pins, etc.
— A panel of judges including Sarah Addison from the Mix 94.5 morning show and other local personalities will decide the winners. Winners will be announced no later than Sept. 20, 2013.
— Must be 18 to enter. U.S. residents only, please. Chambanamoms.com employees, contributors and contractors from the past six months are not eligible to win (sorry guys, but you can still send us your photos!).
— Fine print: No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Prize is valued at $400 (grand prize) – no cash value. Ditto the $25 gift certificates to Bella Bambini. By entering the contest, entrants grant chambanamoms.com a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any standard chambanamoms.com purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. Chambanamoms.com will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
