It’s hard to believe it isn’t already summer, considering the very warm and summer-like weather we’ve had this spring, but there’s still a few more months until we can hit Sholem Pool.
But, it isn’t too early to start thinking about the outdoor pool, and now the Champaign Park District is offering kids the chance to win a seasonal pass to swim all summer long!
The CPD is asking kids ages 18 and under to help them name their new water slide, a 197-foot, translucent, enclosed slide, which joins “The Falls” and “The Plunge” this year.
“Our new slide is up and installed,” says Megan Kuhlenschmidt, the sports and aquatics manager for CPD. “It’ll be up and running opening day! It’s almost a mirror image of the yellow slide, but it’s translucent so you can see people going down, and it won’t be pitch black in there like the yellow slide. We’ve been calling them our “racing slides” in anticipation of finding out which one’s faster!”
We had some ideas, but we’re not going to cheat by sharing them! If your kids want to enter, have them send an email outlining their idea to marketing@cparkdistrict.com. Moms and dads can help younger ones send the email, but remember — the ideas should all come from the kids.
The child who submits the winning name will win an individual season pass to Sholem Pool and will also be the first one to go down the slide. Good luck!
