Please join Sinai Temple and the CUJF Holocaust Education Center at the annual community commemoration of Yom HaShoah on Sunday, April 12th at 7pm. The commemoration will feature keynote speaker Dr. Amy Simon on the topic “Voices from the Abyss: Holocaust Diaries in History and Memory”.
Dr. Simon will discuss diaries written during the Holocaust and what an empathic reading of their texts can teach us about Jewish experiences and emotions during the darkest period in Jewish history. We will be reminded of the value of listening to these individuals’ stories as we move further away from the historical event.
Following the commemoration, attendees are invited to view the “Through Their Eyes” exhibit, curated by the CUJF Holocaust Education Center, showcasing student artwork, writing and film reflecting on the lessons of the Shoah. Entries in the Through Their Eyes 2026 contest will also be shown.
The exhibit will be available to view from April 13th-14th between 10am-2pm in the Davis Chapel at Sinai Temple.
This program is made possible by the Jack and Sadye Marco Holocaust Fund of CUJEF and by the C-U Jewish Federation & Sinai Temple.
Please remember that events may be canceled or rescheduled last minute due to unpredictable weather or other factors. We encourage you to reach out to event organizers before heading out to an event to verify it is still happening.
