Join the group for this picture book biography of feminist icon, writer and activist, Gloria Steinem: “Gloria Takes a Stand: How Gloria Steinem Listened, Wrote and Changed the World,” by Jessica M. Rinker; illustrated by Daria Peoples-Riley. When Gloria was a young woman, it was very difficult for women to go to college, get a job, open a bank account, remain single, or live equally to men. Although there is a long way to go to achieve equal rights for women, this group will learn in this story how Gloria Steinem has championed civil rights for women throughout her life and brought that goal closer. FREE. For more info: (217) 586-2612 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
