The Museum is open for train rides on Saturdays and Sundays from April 30th through October 2nd.
Steam engine #401 is tentatively scheduled to be used third weekend of each month and those tickets are sold separately.
You may board the train at the Nelson Crossing Depot (the main Museum site) or at the Wabash Depot in downtown Monticello. The train ride lasts approximately one hour, however, passengers may choose to layover at either depot. You can walk through the museum cars and view many pieces of rolling stock at the museum site, as well as visit the Museum’s gift shop. At the Wabash depot you can walk to many shops and restaurants around Monticello’s Courthouse Square.
Saturday
Saturday trains leave the main Museum site at Nelson Crossing at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
Saturday trains leave the Wabash Depot in downtown Monticello at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. Note that there is NO return trip to the Wabash Depot following the 4 p.m. departure.
Sunday
Sunday trains leave the main Museum site at Nelson Crossing at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
