Mark your calendar, ’cause this is going to be a super fun concert!
In addition to several pieces you’ll instantly recognize as vintage circus-y music, UPO will play a modern circus song from “Greatest Showman.”
As winner of the Chambana International Music Competition-concerto division, James Yan will perform Camille Saint Saëns’ “Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor.” Yan is a rising junior at Uni High.
And, a mariachi band will make a guest appearance!
The group will combine members from the Mariachi Tigres de Urbana, which consists of students from Urbana Middle School and Urbana High School, with musicians from a local adult group, both led by Tamra Gingold, Edgar Guitierez and Leo Castro.
As always, this concert is FREE thanks to support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, an Urbana Arts & Culture grant, and many generous donors!
