He was born and raised in New Jersey, with a father from the heartland of Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and a mother from the heartland of the US (Kansas). He currently plays trumpet and raps with the Champaign-Urbana based jazz/hip hop/funk band Afro D & Global Soundwaves, as well as performing as a solo artist. Outside of music, he is an ESL/Bilingual Ed teacher at Central High in Champaign and a proud father of 3 girls. He is trilingual, speaking French and Spanish in addition to English.
