Celebrate Black History Month with live music for all ages!
All are invited to a special Black History Month performance featuring Afro D & Global Soundwaves, a socially-conscious hip hop/jazz/funk/soul band based in Champaign-Urbana, led by rapper, trumpeter and educator Pete ‘Afro D’ Shungu. The band blends horns, rhythm section and hip hop vocals into soulful music designed to be heard by people of all ages, building bridges across generations, cultures, and communities. The band’s positive messages are designed to inspire people and build community, both locally and globally.
UFLive! concerts are made possible by the generous support of The Urbana Free Library Foundation.
The Library is committed to making programs accessible for all. If you need an accommodation to attend a program, please let the Library know at least two weeks in advance. To request an accommodation, contact the Programming and Outreach Manager via email at programming@urbanafree.org or via phone at 217-367-4057.
Please remember that events may be canceled or rescheduled last minute due to unpredictable weather or other factors. We encourage you to reach out to event organizers before heading out to an event to verify it is still happening.
