The goal of this program is to create a safe space for teen girls (11-14) to come to after school either as an activity or for something to do while waiting for the bus/guardian to pick them up. Event organizers plan on using this space to discuss real life problems and educate them on topics that the school system does not cover. Some topics they have already planned include: self care, puberty/changes, mental health/social media, developing resilience, peer influences, how to regulate emotions/stress and so much more! The teenagers years—especially for today’s teens—are a very turbulent and challenging phase of development so if teen girls can be surrounded with support both inside and outside of the home, they will be more equipped to endure not only these difficult years but gain coping skills for life.
