It’s back! Celebrating 110 years in 2022
Summer Twilight Concert on the Quad: June 23 and July 21 at 7 p.m. on the University Quad. The University of Illinois Summer Band meets during the summer session and performs two “Twilight Concerts” on the UI Quadrangle. This tradition goes back over 100 years, and is a special element of the Illinois Band Program.
Join the 90+ musicians in the Illinois Summer Band, Thursday July 21 at 7pm for a free concert!
A tradition begun in 1911 at the University of Illinois by the first Director of Bands, Albert Austin Harding, continues this year with another exciting “Twilight Concert.” The performance, conducted by Prof. Barry L. Houser, will be held on the south side of the Illini Union, on the UI Quad. The varied program of classic band literature and light fare will provide great entertainment for the entire family. Admission is free and be sure to bring your lawn chair or a blanket!
(A chambanamoms favorite!) Our tip: stop by Campustown for 13 Thursdays before the concert. Pack a picnic or pick up dinner from a nearby Campustown joint.
