For the first time ever, ballet is coming to the Historic Fischer Theatre!
Originally composed by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936, Peter and the Wolf is a beloved musical fairy tale created to help children discover the instruments of the orchestra. Each character is represented by a different instrument and musical theme, bringing the story to life through sound in a way that is both entertaining and educational.
This ballet adaptation adds another layer to the experience by combining Prokofiev’s iconic score with expressive movement and dance. Young audiences can explore how music, emotion, character, and movement work together while following a story of bravery, curiosity, and wit. It’s a wonderful introduction to both ballet and orchestral music, and with tickets only $15, it’s an affordable afternoon of live arts for the whole family.
Showtime is 2:00pm for the fully polished performance, or come at 11:30am for their Open Dress Rehearsal, where you’ll get a special behind the scenes glimpse into the performance process as the final pieces come together.
Both experiences will be delightful, but each offers something a little different. Whether you want to see the finished production or experience some of the magic that happens before the curtain officially rises, we’d love to have you!
Please remember that events may be canceled or rescheduled last minute due to unpredictable weather or other factors. We encourage you to reach out to event organizers before heading out to an event to verify it is still happening.
