“A May Medley”: A Joint Concert by the Concert Band and Orchestra

The Parkland Orchestra, directed by Rodney Mueller, will perform “The Sea Hawk (Suite for Orchestra)” by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, arr. Jerry Brubaker; “An Outdoor Overture” by Aaron Copland; the choral prelude “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” by Johann S. Bach, transcribed by Eugene Ormandy; “English Folk Songs Suite” by R. Vaughan Williams, orchestra arr. by Gordon Jacob; and “Solemn Procession to the Cathedral” from the opera “Lohengrin” by Richard Wagner, concert version by Tom Kennedy.
Larry Stoner will lead the Parkland Concert Band in performance of “The Prairie Is My Garden” by Robert W. Smith; “Four Scottish Dances” by Malcolm Arnold; Overture from “The Gadfly” by Dmitri Shostakovich; “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa; and “The Roaring Forties” by Philip Sparke.
