Head to Allerton Park and Retreat Center for an enchanting evening dedicated to the fascinating Northern Saw Whet Owl at Owl Night on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m.* in the Music Barn (588 Allerton Rd., Monticello).
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to get up close with these elusive creatures and connect with nature as researchers conduct live banding of these migrating avian wonders. Bring the little ones along for a variety of engaging kids’ activities that promise both fun and learning. As the night unfolds, enjoy the camaraderie at the cash bar — including both kid-friendly and adult beverages — as you mingle with fellow owl enthusiasts.
The Illinois Raptor Center will also be on hand with live birds to view and learn about.
*Nets will be opened for live banding at 5:30 p.m., but most owls will likely be captured after 8 p.m.
$10/person (5 & under free). Register at https://allerton.illinois.edu/events/owl-night-2/. Registration will close Nov. 4 or when capacity is reached. All sales are final.
If you will need disability-related accommodations to participate, please email owarren@illinois.edu.
By attending, you consent to your image being used in Allerton marketing, social media and publications. Please alert the photographer or videographer if you do not want your image taken.
Please remember that events may be canceled or rescheduled last minute due to unpredictable weather or other factors. We encourage you to reach out to event organizers before heading out to an event to verify it is still happening.
