MTD is happy to announce that a Virtual Learn-To-Ride session has been scheduled for Thursday, April 15, at 6:30PM. This session is available to families and students of Champaign Unit 4 and Urbana District 116 schools. The session will be presented via Zoom at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81318511920?pwd=K0pONlpFN2ZiUEdvMFRSNEFEbXNPdz09
Through MTD’s partnership with the Champaign and Urbana school districts, MTD has traditionally been able to answer questions and provide on-site Learn to Ride presentations to outgoing Fifth Grade classes to teach students the rules for riding MTD before they go on to middle school. Unfortunately, these opportunities were not available this year due to COVID-19.
They hope this Virtual Learn-To-Ride session will be helpful to families and students preparing for the return to in-person learning, families who may be new to our community, or those families who just need a refresher.
MTD believes that providing students with transportation on our buses to and from school affords our community the opportunity to train a whole new generation to use and be comfortable with public transportation. They view this as an important life skill that a lot of kids in communities our size may not learn, unless they go to school in Champaign-Urbana, or another, larger city. Riding MTD gives kids the chance to learn how better to interact with adults and conduct themselves in public settings, which makes for a better community.
MTD is available to answer questions by phone at 217.384.8188.
